  1. Thanks for making the video and comparison. It was your video and another video that sold me on spartan plates.

I would like to point out, the other video defeated 5, 3006 AP rounds before failure upon the 6th round! All those shots were done at 50ft. And the same point of impact!

Now, for everyone reading this, these plates come with certification and they stopped a minimum of 6, 308 ball rounds..That is what they are rated for.
But to go beyond those capabilities, is awesome…

    Thanks again!

  2. I ordered armor from Target man 25 days ago and still have not received my armor. I would not doe business with this company.

  3. Great review… next step might be to review the costs to produce this why in the world does this so called body armor cost so much when the AR500 “wear plate” steel costs approx. .52-.68 cents per pound the .25 thick 1sq ft. is 10lbs. you do the math. The cut expense is minimal as they put a sheet on the laser table and cut 40 plates maybe 42. the cut price is 3.75 for each [for all 40 is $150].
Shaping takes a few runs through a press and the machine operator can do all 40 plates in 1 1/2 hrs. paying the operator say $25 per hr. 62.5 cents. There isn’t any aramid in the product and the coating is bed liner with a different chemical comp but not much more. A chem company mixes the formula for them and a 1/4 in of the spray on costs pennies. Let’s go nuts and say it costs 20.00 per lb plus another .62cents to spray per plate.[NOT]
    Raw steel $6.20
    Cut $3.75
    Shape .62 cents
Coating $20.62 [actual cost is less per lb]
Shipping from the various vendors is another $7.50 per plate
    Total: $38.69 finished product cost
Their web advertising is pennies so why does the AR500 cost $220.00 ? At freakin 19lbs.?
They are stealing from everyone who buys their “Body Armor” Solution.

  4. So glad to see there is a better alternative than ar500armor.com.
It seems that the current status for ar500armor.com’s company is a nightmare at best.
I have looked far and wide at other armor makers but could only see the best and cheapest was the above mentioned.
    Until Now.
I will be purchasing from these folks thanks to your reviews and video’s
    Thank you
    J

  5. The bottom line is these companies really make good products for good prices. Years back being able to get decent body armor was a significant investment. Now one can get decent plate armor and soft armor for a very reasonable price. Great review.
